Welcome to Purely Poultry Limited!
We’re excited to be part of your poultry-raising journey! To make sure everything runs smoothly, we’ve outlined our key policies below. Whether you’re browsing, purchasing, or contributing, these terms apply to all our users. Our goal is to make these policies easy to follow so you can focus on what really matters—enjoying your flock.
By using our site or purchasing our products, you agree to these policies, which apply to all users, including browsers, customers, wholesalers, brokers, and contributors.
Your Role in a Happy, Healthy Flock
We’re committed to delivering healthy, happy birds, but you play a crucial role too! Here’s what we ask of you:
- Prepare for Your Flock: Please make sure you’re ready to receive live birds before they arrive. This includes verifying your local zoning regulations and setting up a brooder with heat, bedding, food, and water.
- Follow Care Instructions: Proper care ensures the health of your new flock. Be sure to read our care instructions when you place your order and again when your birds arrive. Failure to prepare properly or follow these care instructions may void our live arrival guarantees.
- No Returns for Poultry: Unfortunately, we can’t accept returns for live or deceased poultry.
Minimums for a Perfect Order
We want to make sure every flock gets what they need, so we’ve set some minimum order quantities:
- Large Fowl Chickens: 3
- Bantam Chickens: 3 per variety, 5 total
- Turkey, Ducks, Goslings: 1
- Guinea Fowl: 5
- Cockerels: You can order one of any variety.
- For orders with fewer than 15 day-old poultry, a small order fee applies.
Shipping & Hatch Schedule: What to Expect
We work hard to keep everything on track, but working with live animals can be unpredictable. Here’s what you can expect:
- Choose a preferred ship date at checkout. Delivery typically occurs 1-3 days after shipment.
- Availability is estimated and can change, but we’ll email you with confirmed hatch dates within 3 business days.
- We hatch on Mondays and Wednesdays during the season. If we need to reschedule, we’ll notify you.
- If one or more varieties in a multiple-variety order are shorted, we will alert you following the shipment day once we reconcile the orders. A refund will be issued for any shorted varieties.
- Remember, canceling and resubmitting an order does not guarantee the same ship date or availability of the same varieties.
Need to Change or Cancel? Here’s How
We get it—sometimes plans change! Here’s what you need to know about modifying or canceling your order:
- Modifications: Additions can be made by contacting us, but keep in mind, this might change your ship date. No partial cancellations are allowed.
- Cancellations: All day-old poultry cancellations are subject to a 10% or $15 fee, whichever is greater. No cancellations are allowed within 10 days of the hatch date, including orders placed less than ten days prior to hatch.
Purely Poultry Promise: Live Arrival & Accurate Sexing
We want you to have peace of mind when your birds arrive, so here’s what we guarantee:
- Live Arrival Guarantee: We guarantee that your birds will arrive healthy. For transit losses, a refund will be issued for the price of any poultry lost. In the rare event of a total loss, we’ll arrange a one-time reshipment at no additional cost. For partial losses, we cannot provide partial reshipments, and a refund will be issued instead. The value of any extra birds included in your order will also be considered when calculating claims.
- Sexing Guarantee: We offer a 90% sexing accuracy guarantee on most breeds. Store credit will be issued for any shortfall in the requested genders, with consideration of any extra birds provided in your order.
- To file a claim related to arrival or sexing, you’ll need to report losses within 24 hours of delivery and provide photographic evidence. Claims for sexing errors should be made between 8 to 10 weeks after shipment.
- Claims are valid only if the losses occurred during shipping or at time of receipt and the proper care instructions were followed, including maintaining a brooder temperature of 100-105 degrees Fahrenheit and using a heat bulb (not a heat plate) for the first two weeks. Failure to comply will result in claim denial.
- To process any claims related to losses, mis-sexing, or health issues, we may require photographic evidence. Failure to provide photos upon request will result in claim denial.
- Claims cannot exceed the original purchase price (excluding shipping and fees).
- For day-old poultry, we generally include extras of your chosen breed(s) in each box to help with any losses. In the case of partial loss during transit where you receive fewer live birds than ordered, we will issue a refund for the price of the poultry lost. In the rare event of a total loss, a one-time reshipment will be made at no additional cost. For partial losses, we are unable to make partial reshipments, and a refund will be issued instead.
- Our Guarantee covers the cost of the poultry; however, shipping fees are not refundable.
- When calculating credits for claims related to both arrival and sexing, the value of any extra chicks included in your order will be considered.
Pick-Up Instructions & Shipping Info
Make sure your contact details are correct so your post office can reach you! Here’s what you need to know:
- You’ll need to pick up your birds within 8 hours of their arrival for their health and safety. Birds not picked up within this time frame may be rehomed, and refunds or reshipments will not be available.
- We make every effort to provide tracking numbers, but please note that USPS tracking systems may not always recognize live poultry shipments accurately.
- Live poultry must be picked up at your local post office. Track your shipment and arrange for pickup when notified.
Health & Safety First
Keeping both you and your flock healthy is a top priority. Please follow these simple guidelines:
- Wash your hands before and after handling birds.
- Always supervise children when they’re interacting with your flock.
- Poultry should not be kept in family living spaces for safety reasons.
Poultry Health & Quality Standards
We take great care to provide quality, healthy birds that meet advertised standards. Purely Poultry Limited is an online marketplace that partners with a trusted network of breeders to offer a diverse selection of quality poultry. Here’s what to expect:
- All breeding stock meets NPIP certification standards, meaning birds are regularly tested for diseases.
- If you notice any health or genetic issues (like wry neck, curled toes, or spraddle leg), please contact us within 48 hours of receipt for health concerns and 14 days for genetic issues. Be prepared to provide photos.
- We do not guarantee post-delivery survivability. Raising poultry, even from the healthiest stock, comes with inherent risks. It’s crucial to monitor their health closely, especially during their early days.
- Even poultry from health-monitored operations should be quarantined, and strict biosecurity measures should be followed to prevent potential risks.
- We assume no liability for ongoing health issues after delivery or for interactions between new and existing poultry.
Returns for Non-Poultry Items:
For non-poultry items, we offer a simple return policy:
- Defective/Incorrect Items: We’ll replace or refund.
- Non-defective Items: You can return these within 7 days, but shipping costs are non-refundable.
